Characters
» Species Allowed: Human, Horse, Wolf

» All characters are expected to be within normal range for age, size, color, etc. of their species and/or breed. The only fantastic aspect to your character should be their ability for cross-species communication.

» Because of the interspecies interaction, things unrealistic for "wild" are still plausible. For example: a horse with braids in its hair is still realistic because a human could have done it for them.

» Your character should not be perfect. Your character can not always be right. Your character can not win at every aspect of life. Your character's situation in life may change drastically. Kings may fall, and even the mundane may be deified.

» Wildcard Characters: not yet enacted Once the game is well-established, players with at least one active character already may join a "wildcard character" which may be of any species, realistic or otherwise (keep in mind that fantasy creatures will be just that to other characters: strange, "mythical", etc.) If enough players choose the same species as their wildcard, it my be worked into the storyline as becoming another joinable species.

Setting
» Lassaru is a mid-sized island in a vast sea connected to the "main land" by a treacherous, broken-up land bridge. Much of the island and its smaller, outlying islands have not been charted. The terrain is heavily wooded (mostly evergreens) and the shores are rocky.

» Time in Lassaru passes as it does in real life. A month is a month. Things can change overnight. Understandably, conversations written over several days will have happened in "a day".

» ~9 months of the year, September through May, Lassaru experiences a long "winter" season. It may range from mild to brutal, but it is always frigid with poor vegetation. Weather and season length may change on Mnemasi's whim.

Culture
» Lassaru is pre-modern. Think "typical" ancient pagan societies.

» There is one deity: Mnemasi. She is the mother of the island who, after bodily giving birth to all earth and stone and animal of Lassaru, bled profusely and without end. She needs a monthly "transfusion" of blood from her most devout children.

»Characters may range from atheist to extremist in their beliefs, but the religious worship of Mnemasi is status quo and government endorsed.

» Holies: The most devout followers of the cult of Mnemasi. They live on her Temple grounds and spend their lives studying the secrets of her wisdom and preaching to others. Temple life also includes housekeeping of the Temple, farming, etc. You may join as a Holy or become one through induction. Parents may send their children to be Holies against their will.

» Sacrifice: From the pool of Holies, ~30% of them will be sacrificed once per month (if 3 holies, 1; if 10 holies, 3). OFferings are brought upon the Temple altar in front of a watching crowd and their throats slit, allowing the blood to run over Mnemasi's shrine. But because Mnemasi is a life-giving goddess, sacrifice does not always mean death (results determined by moderator):

50% chance of not dying and recovering, unscathed
30% chance of not dying, but recovering with a terrible defect
10% chance of "transcending" death and gaining a special ability or trait
10% chance of permanent death

» There is no pre-determined trend of interaction. Your character may interact with others as you see fit. For example: one horse may willingly pull a cart for a human in exchange for grain/forage stores during the winter season and see it as a fair trade, another horse may look down upon that horse for submitting to "slavery".

» In the same vein, the continuing plot will be player-driven through game play and suggestions. Ex: perhaps one of the characters who is sacrificed, lives, and gets powers ends up being deified by some, thus a rival deity and rival cult emerges and this can cause all sorts of problems

» Breeding: No pornographic descriptions. For now we trust you to determine the stats of the child you want, just post them on the updates board so the character list may be updated.

» Fighting: If the players have determined that they want a fight to go a certain way to fit with a story line, go for it. If not, at the first sign of challenge post fight terms and make sure the other player agrees, commence fighting, when done flag down a Mod.

» Stealing: Similarly, if players have decided that a steal will go a certain way, play it out. Example: Merida is pickpocketing a flyer for an anarchist meeting from Lothian's back pocket and this will lead to her informing Officials and causing a cascade. BUT, if it is undecided how certain acts of theivery will play out a Mod can be flagged for a coin toss or riddle.
